The twelve tables of Roman law were important to the Romans, especially the plebeians, becaue they allowed the laws to be read and not just interpreted by the rich and powerful patricians. This allowed tv poorer citizens to push their rights. An example of this is that the law allowing people who did not pay their debts To become nexi (which were basically slaves) was abolished. The written laws also allowed for interpretation by people other than the patricians.

These 12 tables were important because when they were going to be interpreted, they were not only interpreted by the rich and powerful patricians, but it was a lot more open to other people. The twelve tablets confirmed the far reaching paternal power of the father also. This law allowed any citizen's right to appeal to a the Assembly against any magistrate's judgement. This law helped many people of rome with their daily lives.

The 12 Tables were important because it outlined the laws that every one was supposed to live by. These tables put everyone(almost) on the same level. Instead of the laws only protecting the Patricians, they now applyed to the Plebeians. The tables did not have the desired effect, instead of bring a mutual understanding and respect it brought up the unfairness of older laws and increased social tension.

There were no written laws so these helped people interpret the laws better and that way people couldn't just change them in they felt like it. There were a total of 12 tablets with all of Rome's laws on them. It also let people appeal to the Assembly for different arguments and if they were accused of something falsely.

The Twelve Tables of the Law gave the non-Patricians more of an equal ground with the Patricians. The Patricians could no longer just bend the laws to their own will, because the laws were now written. People could petition against unfair treatment. Power to the people! The Twelve Tables of Law also gave way to other social/law reforms. Now that the laws were written down, people -well the Plebeians- could see the inequalities in many of the laws. These unfair laws could now be changed or fixed.

I think the twelve tables were important to the Romans because it was there laws. Not just the governments laws. The Twelve tables of law allowed the community to take part in making laws to. The laws applied to them too, there were farming laws because most of society were farmers. I think that it is important for the laws to be fair and also influenced by the whole community.

I think that The Twelve tables of the law were imporatnt to the Romans because in a way it was a way to enforce common laws on all of the people. In the early decade there was no written law therefore it favored the patricians who then monopolized the the offices of both the Magristrati and the Pontifices. For many years they made no distinction between laws both civil and criminal laws under the catergory of Judicial laws. This table basically clarified many things for the Romans, law- wise.

The twelve Tables are importiant to Romans because it made them all have equil rights and the ability for them to be interpertated by everyone not just rich and privilaged. It gave everyone a chance to be fair.

The Twelve Tables was a mixture of general principles and minutely detailed private and public law. Possibly influenced by the Greek
example of writing down laws, the Twelve Tables (including it's language)is very Roman. I think that the Twelve Tables of the laws were important to the citizens of Rome because, it gave citizens different rights. For example, one of the laws was that a citizen had the right to appeal to the Assembly against any magistrate's judgment involving a capital penalty or exile. Fathers
(according to the laws) had a lot of power over their sons. A son could not make wills or take part in any legal transaction as long
as their father was alive, and the father's power extended to even killing his own children, even though it was rare. But, males were not the only ones that had rights. The Twelve Tablets say that a women, upon reaching the age of 25, could regain the right to manage her own property. So the Twelve Tables were very important to the citizens of Rome.

I think the importance of the twelve tablets to the Roman citizens is tremendous. The article said that the tablets were the first written laws of Rome. This is crucial to the court cases. The laws could be change slyly by the words but when they had been written down, the law was set in stone (or wood in this case). This was the rules of Rome for years and years. One of the tablets let the poorer women practice their trade peacefully. This law benefitted the poor citizens, but the other laws also benefitted them and the rich. This system was helpful to all of the struggles and it was clean cut. There was no confusion until the government started to evolve.

The 12 tablets are something like the rule board we all had in first grade. although every one in rome had to follow them they were just something that is there to remind you what the laws were about and when to use them. It says that, "the laws were learnt by generations of school boys". to me this means that this wasnt just something you could blow off, they were the rules and they were strict about them, the laws could vary anywhere from trees being cut down or court cases.

The 12 tables gave people the right to bejudged fairly in court. The 12 tables showed the unfairness of past laws. These laws made it easier because it clarrafied and made it equal for all not just the rich and privlaged it gave different rights to different types of people.

In my opinion, the 12 Tables were considered important because it remained the basis of Roman law for hundreds of years. It also allowed the plebans to be informed on the laws they once weren't allowed to know. After knowing them they were now able to demand reforms on laws they saw as unjust. One of these was that a debtor who did not repay his debts would become imprisoned or enslaved. To the Romans, these laws were the "source of entire public and private law". The 12 Tablets also confirmed the high amount of power the father of the family. Sons could take no part of legal transactions while their fathers lived. Finally, they were important because they reminded citizens of the law that a citizen has the right to appeal to the Assembly based on a magistrate's judgement, which citizens may have forgotten often.

The twelve tables were important because it helped romans "dealing" with foreigners. The twelve tables also made it more clear about what were laws and what weren't, so people wouldn't be able to take advantage of a situation. The tables also let many different people get some form of justice, men, and woman. It was equal and very important for the Romans.

The twelve tables of law were important because, put simply, it was their laws. It made things mare equal and didn't favor the rich. It also allowed for people to appeal in front of the assembly.

The twelve tables of Roman law were improtant because they dealt with everything, private law and publice law. Since school boys were forced to memorize the law, and every one could read it, it also was known by everyone in the community. Another thing about it was that it was "set in stone". No one could change the law becuase it was actually written in stone. The only way to change it would be to go through the senate, so there would also be no misinterpretaion of the law. IT also gave citizens the right to challenge a magistrate's judgment of a case.

I think the 12 table laws were important to the Romans because that was their main law and was pasted on through many centuries and were also learned by school boys. Also Livy uses it as the entire public and private law. It made all of the citizens equal to the councils and the other higher classes.

The 12 tables were important since they clearly outlined the basic laws of Rome. This was much needed, due to the fact that the Plebians contiued to ask for more and more rights, including the equal judgement of all men because laws didn't exist in the early Republic, which probably led to the uncertainty of men in Rome.

The laws were in public for all to see on the tables, so all citiizens knew what they were entitled to, whether it be the right to commit infanticide, or who is at fault when animals go missing.

The tables gave Rome reassurance and stability.

I think that the twelve tables were important because without laws people could do whatever they want. It’s important because it spread out power. It confirmed that the father had power over the children. In different cities sons could take over their father’s.

The 12 tables are important to all Romans, but mostly to the Plebeians because it sets the laws in plain sight so that they know their rights. It confirmed the power of the father, and it made sure that the people in debt don't get turned into slaves. It also made the laws open for interpretation by people other then the patricians

The Twelve Tables
The importance of the 12 tables is that the Plebeians got protection and they were recognized in the law.
The rules/laws were legit and like written down and enforced compared to before when it was just said and not always obeyed or followed through upon. Also the tables made it so almost everyone was equal and had the same treatment.

These twelve tablets of the laws were important to the Romans becuase they could be applied to widly differing purposes. They were the source of both private and public matters. They were so important that schoolboys were taught for generations, because the laws were written down they allowed for others to interperate them. Examples of the law also dealt with rural life, like trees being cut down, or animals being wandered off. The laws also confirmed the Paterfamilias and Motherfamilias. These laws gave woman laws too. They were allowed to own their own properties at the age of 25.

Basically to me the importance of the 12 tables was so that the Plebians could have protection and rights in the law. These laws were written so that they had something that could actually show and say that it was a law.By it being written down they had proof and something that they could actually show, and the laws tried to help people be more equal and have more say and power in the law.

The Twelve tabes were important because before them there were no written laws and the Magistrati would use this to thier advantage when interpreting laws. The magistri were the only people that could interpret laws and they could interpret them however they wanted before the Twelve Tables of the law. This made the Plebians unhappy so a group of 10 patricians got together and wrote down all of the Roman laws on tablets. A few examples of these laws pertain to Paterfamilies or families where the father has all legal rights, or laws on rural life such as what should happen when animals run away or what you do when you have to cut down trees.

I think the twelve tables were important to the Romans just like the laws thatwe have now are important to (most) Americans. The Twelve tables of law allowed the ordinary citizens to take part in creating laws Also. The laws applied to them too, i think thatthatit is important to have laws that everyone has to follow...and that is pretty much what the twelve tables did.

I think that the twelve tables of Roman Law were important, because this way people had laws written down, and everyone knew what they were and not to break them. This made the Roman civilization fairer and made the lives of the plebians easier to live, it also gave women some rights, like being able to manage their own properties. It also made it so that the rich could not manipulate the law in their favor

The Twelve Tablets of the Law were very important. Before them, the Patricians had all the power. After the twelve tablets came about, the playing field became more level. It also gave the citizens the right to appeal to the Assembly against a capital penalty or an exile. It also helped women as well. It gave women more rights, for example, at the age of 25, a women could regain the right to manage her own property.

The twelve tablets of law are important because they made it so that everyone got fair treatment. The patricians were equal to the plebians in law, and couldn't bend the rules to fit themselves. The tablets also made it so everyone knew what exactly the law was.

The twelve tables of law were basically for everyone to see and make life a little more equal amongst the rich and the powerful and the everyday citizens (plebeians). And since there werent any written laws this made it easy for everyone to access and there would be no exceptions for the rich or the poor.

Before the 12 tables all laws were interpreted by the patricians, which favored them because they could change the laws because they were the only ones able to interpret them. After that in 451 BC, a commission of ten patricians, called the decemvirs, wrote down all of rome's laws on stone tablets.

The importance of the 12 tables of the law was to give everyone a guide to follow in order to be a good citizen. Do to these rules put in place for the citizens, I think it made Rome a better place to live. Also, it sort of became the epithet of later Roman laws.
